Members please note that the Club is currently finalising a tender for the construction of a brand new 9th green and a 1350m2 putting green that will be located at the front of the Clubhouse.

New Putting Geeen
The Club’s current putting green is insufficient at only 320m2, poorly located, poorly designed and also features a different grass (328 bermuda) to the rest of the Club’s greens (Tifdwarf). For this reason the Club has been looking at a new putting green location and design to address this major weakness. The Club engaged Richard Chamberlain Golf Design to do this design that was actually done in 2020. With the various challenges of COVID and then flooding this project has been stalled a few times. The Club is now committed to this project in the latter part of 2023.

The 1350m2 putting green will be a significant upgrade to the facility and conveniently located at the front of the Clubhouse and approximately halfway between the 1st and 10th holes Its location is also adjacent to the warm up nets making the pre-game warm up much more convenient. A designated chipping zone is also planned. The significant size (more than 2 times the current 9th green) will allow members a huge variety of putts and provide an enjoyable space to practice their putting. The green will also be grown from our own Tifdwarf nursery ensuring the grass is consistent with the rest of the golf course.

New 9th Green
The new design sees the relocation of the 9th green so that this hole will measure 301m from the blue tees and 287m from the white tees, and 265m from the red tees.

A new bunker located approximately 35m short right of the green will make the agressive play at the green something to consider.

The current planned timing for the commencement of works will be the last week in August 2023, immediately after the completion of the Club Championships. During this period the 9th will be completely closed for the upgrade and the 12th hole will be split into the 12A and 12B holes.

This is a significant project for the Club, and one of the biggest in many years to undertake. There will be some inconvenience through the construction and grow in phase but we will be left with a much improved facility and an exciting new risk reward 9th hole.

The Board and Management are now finalising the tender process to engage the contractor to undertake the works and we will update you as the commencement date draws closer.
