It has been another fantastic year for the Carbrook Shark Lake Challenge and ultimately the Shootout. Our Fed-Ex Cup style event has proven to be an absolute hit with the members and visitors over the past 2 years.

This year we had 1758 people play in a Shark Lake Challenge, averaging 160 players per competition. When you see these numbers, it highlights what a great effort it is for a player to finish inside the top 30 to qualify for the end of year shootout.

Our Shark Lake Shootout Winner for this year was Phil Mounter, a former member, now currently at Nudgee Golf Club. Phil managed to sneak his way into the Top 30 by virtue of a runner up finish in the December Shark Lake Challenge. He continued his great run of form into the final in January, where he shot a Nett 70 to win a Shirt in back to back Shark Lake Challenges, a feat not done by many! Phil was able to win the shootout by 1 shot over club president Bruce Weston and Andrew Stocks, who both returned very respectable scores of 71.

Congratulations Phil, and hopefully you will be able to keep up the great golf in 2019 and try to defend your title as the 2018 Shark Lake Shootout Champion.

Our 2019 Shootout has just begun, so make sure you and your mates book into the Shark Lake Challenge’s throughout the year to win your way into the shootout!
