Lake Fill Project
Current Status | Application submitted to Logan City Council
In April 2021 the members of the Club voted to allow the Club to sign an agreement with Earth Solutions Group Pty Ltd (ESG) that would see the progression of an approval to allow the filling of the sand mine that is known as Shark Lake.
The application for approval has been submitted to Logan City Council on 19 October 2023.
ESG has advised that whilst this process is significant there are no issues that cannot be addressed to the satifaction of the relevant agency.
The actual timeframe to get to the final approval stage is not exactly clear however best estimates would see the final approval granted in April – June 2023.
15 and 16 hole redesigns
Once approved the Club will need to reconstruct a new 15th green and adjust the 16th fairway as these will be impacted by the road that will come into the property. We have engaged architect Richard Chamberlain Golf Design (RCDG) to redesign these holes and the Club’s interbal Course Design Group recently approved these designs that will now be provided to a number of constructon companies to be able to quote on the work required.
15th Hole
The 15th Green Design sees the new 15th green located approximately 50 metres shorter of the current green and set alongside the lake. This short risk reward hole will tempt the player depending on the tee on the day. The hole will range in length from 235m – 300m. A new longer blue tee is planned to be constructed as part of the plan.
The green will be 450m2 and have a subtle slope from left to right. In most instances an approach from a lay up position on the right hand side of the fairway (which will be extended further right) will see the best angle of approach, especially to a left pin.
The 15th and 16th overview including the adjustments to the 16th hole are also available.
16th Hole
The 16th hole will see a shortened hole with the par also reducing from a par 5 to a par 4. There will be 3 tees built to accomodate the 3 tee colours and allow for variety. The fairway will be extended left and the current fairway bunker will be filled in to allow for the additional fairway. The centreline of the fairway will move left to encourage a tee shot away from the right hand side that will be the site of the newly constructed truck road. A fence will be erected to prevent golfers and trucks from coming into contact. The green will remain unchanged initially although it may be altered at a future date.
The hole will range from 300 – 350m, however with the prevailing wind into the player and from the right this will prove to be a challenging hole.
It should also be noted that ESG have committed to a payment of $150,000 that will assist the Club with the construction costs of the new 15th green and other adjustments to 15 and 16.
What happens now?
From this point we continue to support ESG with the work they are doing to gain final approval. We are also working on the next phase of construction which means going to tender for the construction work so that when the times comes we are ready to go make the necessary changes to the golf course.
We hope that this update fills in a few gaps and as more information comes to hand we will share that with you.

Master Plan of Property
A conceptual plan was presented to the members during information sessions leading up to the vote in April. This was designed to show the members what is possible long term, however is not a Master Plan. The Master Plan will be developed over the next few years where the members will be heavily involved in the process and will help steer and decide what the final plan for the property will look like.
Some ideas that were presented include:
- A 300m + grassed driving range
- Indoor/ Outdoor Coaching Facility
- 9 Hole Short Course (a short par 3 course for fun and fast play for golfers of all levels)
- A Short game practice precinct
- 6-9 Additional Championship Holes
Upgrade of current facility
Whilst there will be a longer term focus around the club and what the facility will look like in the future, members should note that the Board and Management are also heavily focused on short term improvements to the course, the clubhouse and areas such as the carpark to ensure that the experience as a member over the next 5 years continues to improve. We will present these plans as they come to fruition.
