Another year has come and gone for the Carbrook Veteran Golfers. 2019 has been a successful year for the Carbrook Golf Club and the Carbrook Veteran Golfers (Vets) with only one Thursday competition lost (22/11/2018) due to rain and a no play day on Anzac Day.

At long last Carbrook Veteran Golfers were successful in winning the 2019 Redland Bay Challenge. This is most significant event as it is the first time since the competition has been played that Carbrook Vets have been successful. The shield now hangs proudly in the Carbrook Club House. I am sure that the Carbrook Vets players will do their utmost to ensure it remains there after next year’s competition.

A new sponsor, Harcourts Living at Cornubia, came on board this year and provided significant sponsorship for our golf day on 4 April. Thanks to Jill Carter and her team for the generous support and their participation on the day. We are happy to advise that Harcourts have agreed to again provide sponsorship during 2020. We look forward to their sponsored event in April next year.

On a sad note we recently lost a long- time club member, Ozzie Brown at a significant age of 93 years. It was only this time last year that we invited Ozzie, who had retired from golf during the previous year, to join us at our Christmas function.

Two other Carbrook Veteran Golfers, Jack Carter and Joyce Hill sadly passed away during 2019. All three will be greatly missed by Vets members.
