Well finally some very welcome rain has fallen and just at the right time with our green renovations completed this week. Brett Thomson, our Course Superintendent has again timed the rain perfectly and we have received just over 40mm in the last week which is perfect for the recovery of the greens and surrounds after the renovation process.

Green Renovations

Brett was quite happy with the green renovation process this time with a heavy scarify of the greens and also a scarify of the surrounds. This process removes the “thatch layer” that builds up after months of mowing and is a layer that can be a problem if not removed. There were no holes punched this time (which alleviates compaction) as this is done in the November process that is much more intense. So the greens will recover quite quickly after some dusting (sanding) and were quite playable immediately after on Wednesday. With the rain we have the grass will grow much quicker and the recovery time is less.

New Members continue to poor in

It continues to amaze me the number of new members that are joining the Club. So far in the last 5 months we have had 124 new members and on track for another record year on the back of last year which was our previous high with 217. So thanks to everyone for sharing the word on our great Club and helping with this amazing growth period to make our Club stronger than ever.

New self service fridge at the bar

We are taking a different approach to soft drinks at the bar where you will be able to choose your own drinks and chocolates from a self service fridge next to the bar and then pay for it. We are hoping this makes the process a little easier for you the customer and is a little easier for you to choose what you would like. With the extra space as well it will allow more lines to suit more tastes so look out for some new flavours over the next month.

Sushi now available

If you have been at the Club the last week you will have maybe noticed a new addition to our food offering with fresh sushi now on the menu. We have found a great supplier and I have personally sampled the product and its great. So if you are looking for a fresh new option we hope you enjoy.

New event – Super 3’s – 29 March

Coming up on Friday 29 March is a brand new format that we think will really catch on. In teams of 2 players you will play 12 holes but in 3 different formats – Four-Ball, Foursomes and 2 Ball Ambrose. Its quite a unique format and we know it will be a lot of fun so grab your mates and book in.

Carbrook to host the Queensland Boys and Girls Amateur Championship in July

Just a reminder to our members that we have been selected to host this prestigious event from the 1-5 July which will be a very exciting with the leading junior golfers in the country coming to play Carbrook. The course will be closed for the week (Monday to Friday) however I am currently working on some alternate courses that you will be able to play that week so you don’t miss out. It will be an honour to host the event, however there is an inconvenience to the members and we appreciate your understanding and support.

That’s it from me this month.

Enjoy our great Club and course.
